Weekly message: 3/13/2021
Happy Sunny Saturday!
I hope you are all doing well and are enjoying this beautiful weather. It's invigorating and uplifting to see the various signs of Spring. Here are a few photos from walks this past week.
This week we finished the meteorology unit and began the unit of air pollutant modeling. We'll finish the problem we started on Friday on Monday and will do the second problem in that lecture set. On Wednesday we will begin the Gaussian Dispersion Modeling unit. I've posted the edited recorded lecture from Friday on YouTube; links to all lectures are on LON-CAPA. I even figured out how to add the polls to the recorded lectures (as they do not appear in the recording).
As mentioned in class, the homework on the Clean Air Act and Meteorology is due on March 15 at 11:59 pm. If you need the 48-h grace period, just let me know. Project 2 is due March 22 at 11:59 pm. If you need the 72-h grace period, let me know. Participation Questions 8 and 9 are due on March 15 and March 22, respectively.
I'm pleased to say that Michael Apgar, Fishbeck, will speak with us about work he has been doing on vapor intrusion. This lecture will link indoor air quality with vapor transport in the environment, air sampling, and soil remediation and I'm sure will be enlightening. Mike is a CEE alumnus and a senior environmental engineer at Fishbeck. He has 25 years of experience in in-situ remediation of groundwater, soil, and ambient air. Mike will speak with us March 24. As usual, I will record the lecture, but it would be great if all (at least most of you) could be in attendance.
Some of you asked for the direct links to the blog posts on jobs/internships and scholarships. They are:

All the best,
Dr. Masten
