Welcome to ENE 489 Part 2
January 17, 2020
I hope that you all are well. As mentioned in my email from last week, I have posted review material in LON-CAPA. The review material is based on ENE 280. I have also posted a short video showing how to navigate LON-CAPA. It is posted at https://youtu.be/HAt0dFvkTrk. Also posted is the first lecture, which is an overview of ENE 489: https://youtu.be/xdF44gxkbs4. Links are also provided on LON-CAPA.
For those of you that missed my first email message sent in early January, it is posted on the course blog: https://ene489spring2021.blogspot.com/. I will continue to post weekly messages on the blog.
For those of you that missed the survey, please complete it as soon as possible. It is available at: https://forms.gle/22V7gonYtzV9XtC98
I thought I would start with answering some of your questions from the survey, which if you haven't completed, please do so:
(1) Q: Do we need to have access to all of the recommended written materials listed in order to do well in this course? If so, do I need to purchase them? A: No, all the material you will need is provided on LON-CAPA. If additional material is needed for the projects, I will provide that for you.
(2) Q: I haven't used LON-CAPA before. Is there any material to help guide me through it? A: I've put together a short video to help guide you through the use of LON-CAPA. It's on YouTube.
(3) Q: I was wondering if you will have or already have a posted schedule with the due dates of all lon-capa assignments and the three projects. A: I have not posted a schedule, but you can assume that there will be a homework or project due on Mondays at 11:59 pm. You'll have at least a week to do the homework assignments and at least 3 weeks for the projects.
Our first class meets on Wednesday at 12:40 pm on Zoom. The link and password are on the syllabus and also a link is provided on LON-CAPA.
I look forward to working with all of you throughout the semester.
Dr. Masten
